Breaking News: Reports are coming in from Eagle's offseason training facilities that Jeremy Maclin was today carted off the field during training camp. We are now hearing he has a torn ACL in his right knee and will be out for the year. Reports indicate that the injury occured during non contact 7 v 7 drills. This is of course devestating news for the Eagles and new coach Chip Kelly. Maclin was entering the final year of his rookie contract and had a lot to prove (like the whole Eagles team does). Look for the Eagles to rely heavily on Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson and Running Back Lesean McCoy as they look to rebound and get back to the playoffs.
Fantasy Effect: Maclin was owned in 100% of ESPN Fantasy league until yesterday but was starting on very few teams. Maclin is more of a #3 Fantasy WR so his injury will have less of an effect then one to a player like Dennis Pitta. Look for DeSean Jackson's stats to increase along with possibly Tight End Brent Celeks. The Eagles are week at Wide Receiver but if I had to pick a replacement Wideout from the Eagles it would have to be Jason Avant or Arrelious Benn. Either way, none of this is good news for Eagles fans, and I think it is pretty safe to say they will not be making the playoffs this year.
