Breaking News: Yet another year ending injury occurred yesterday, this time to the promising Raven's Tight End Dennis Pitta. Pitta reportedly broke his hip yesterday after colliding with Safety James Ihedigbo. Pitta was the seventh best Fantasy Tight End this year with 7 TDs and was figured to be a key part to the Raven's offense this year after losing Anquan Boldin. The Ravens, who also have Ed Dickson on their roster, go from one of the strongest teams at Tight End, to a team with major questions to answer. As far as replacements go, early reports hint towards Raven's interest in Visanthe Shiancoe, while others believe rookie Tight End Matt Furstenburg may have a shot. However, the clear winner of this is Ed Dickson who should now have a major role this upcoming year.
Fantasy Effect: Pitta was owned in 100% of ESPN Fantasy leagues up until yesterday and was a starter in most of them. Now with his injury, look for the Ravens to depend upon people like Dickson, Wide Receiver Torrey Smith and Running Back Ray Rice for much needed offensive support. This surely will affect Joe Flacco as well. Flacco, who just won the SuperBowl and got a big long term extension, is now without two top targets from last year in Boldin and Pitta. Look for his numbers to take decrease as the Raven's lose yet another key piece from last year's SuperBowl roster.
Per source, Dennis Pitta has a hip fracture. Really bad news. He's out for the year. Ed Dickson's presence becomes big.
